Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

Hello all! I'm so thrilled that I was able to get this card created to join in on the Papertrey Ink blog hop. I LOVE their products, so it was easy to pick some out to feature in a card.

I was inspired by the colors and elements in the photo above that Papertrey Ink chose. While I think Spring Rain would of been a better match to the photo, I enjoy adding my own twist to a challenge photo and so I chose to use a card base of Aqua Mist. The sentiment was part of a euphemra pack from Pebbles that I cut down to fit the card. Next I stamped out some flowers and leaves as well as die cut them using the Peonies on Parade set, which is one of my favorites! I colored those in using the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks in Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Broken China and Cracked Pistachio. I simply smeared them on some plastic and picked up the color with a watercolor brush mixed with some water. I then added in another leaf from the Pebbles set, a few feathers from an old pack from Michaels and a trusty doily. I knew it was pretty full but I still wanted to add one more element. So I pulled out the Spring Woods stamp and die cut set to create the cute little bird. I stamped him in Saffron Spice, Harvest Gold and Olive Twist inks. Finally I used a gold metallic marker to add a few dash lines along the edges.

Simon Says Stamp Plaid Challenge

Hello!

Today I'm sharing a card I made for the Simon Says Stamp Plaid Challenge. I was going to use some striped stamps to make my own plaid design but then started looking through my stacks of paper. I found this cute blue print, though technically it's a check pattern. But I thought it would work for the plaid challenge.

Deer To Me

Can you believe it's already July? This year feels like it is flying by. Spring and Summer are my favorite seasons, so I of course wish I could slow them down some ;-)

Today's card started out by wanting to play some more with the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks. I took a piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock and and older stripe background stamp. Using Versamark I stamped on the background, then applied white embossing powder and heat set that. Next I just used the fossilized amber and cracked pistachio Distress Oxide Inks and blended those together. Then I sprayed some water on there a few times to add some more visual interest.

As I was looking at the final background trying to decide what to do next, I spotted my new Simon Says Stamp So Deer stamp set and decided to play around with it. So I stamped the two deer in black ink then colored them in with my Copic markers. Next I fussy cut them then went around the edges with a black marker. Finally I took a piece of yellow cardstock, cut a strip, stamped the sentiment and attached it with a tiny attacher. I love how cute this turned out and used it as my niece's birthday card.
