Quick Cards Part 3

Today is the final day I'm sharing cards created by using my basic card-making "recipe".

Also, I haven't talked about the inside of the cards thus far. You can see a glimpse inside today's card and that it has a printed piece of paper in it. This is something I've recently started doing. I just typed up a simple greeting, depending on what kind of card it is. Then I print 4 to a sheet of letter paper, trim them out and keep them next to my cardstock. It's simple to grab one and tape it inside of the card when I don't want to stamp inside.

Quick Cards Part 2

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Today I'm continuing to show you a few cards I create by simply using a basic "recipe" that is easy and reflects my style.

This card incorporates another piece of that watercolor background. But I also added in some pattern paper and a couple diecuts. Finally I added a stamped sentiment on a scrap of pattern paper.

I do keep a stack of scrap paper on my crafting table. It's not sorted but I do go through it every now and then and clean it out. I find that these pieces are great to have on hand to add a piece here and there to cards when I'm in a hurry and don't want to dig through my 6x6 paper pads.

Quick Cards Part 1

Goodmorning all!

This week I wanted to share a bit how I quickly put cards together. Everyone is different, but I think finding a good "recipe" that works with your style can be great to have on hand. There are just some weeks I am too busy to create much but may need to put a few cards in the mail.

I've found what works for me is usually doilies and/or some diecuts, some pattern paper, a good sentiment stamp and of course cardstock. I start with those items and then add whatever else is laying around on my crafting table. With that combination I can quickly build a few cards within minutes. Also, I have all my cardstock precut, scored and sorted by color.

Today's card uses that "recipe" but instead of pattern paper I used part of a watercolor I had created. Then I added on a doily, tag and tucked a feather in. Finally I stamped a sentiment on some scrap cardstock, added a few dash lines and that finished this card.

I'm Too Far Upon My Journey

Happy Monday! Hope this is a lovely week for you. It's one of our busy weeks at work so I already know I'm going to be swamped and tired, ha.

There was an older lady in my church who used to sing the song, "I'm Too Far Upon My Journey." The words came back to me about a month ago or so. I just started thinking on it and how you don't have to be old to sing that and mean it. From the moment you start serving the Lord that can be your song...

March 2018 Reading

Goodmorning and happy Wednesday! Today I have some book reviews to share with you. Unfortunately March was a bit of a dud for me in terms of books. I didn't read many and the ones that I read were not great. Good news though...I'm in the middle of a couple really good ones (so far) so I'll have some better ones to share with you next month :-)

The Handmaid's Tale

This was a book that has had tons of buzz around it lately and even a tv series. So I didn't really read anything about it and just downloaded it from audible. I really need to stop doing that. If I'd read the synopsis and reviews I'd of realized it wasn't a book for me. It's a dystopian story of the fall of the US government by extreme right wing Christians. Those extremists then use the story of Rachel and Leah in the Bible and how they used their handmaids to conceive children with their husbands to try and do the same today. I'm not sure how far I got into it...several chapters. But then due to the language and content I stopped listening.

Shades of Milk and Honey

I'm still a bit confused on this book. It's weird, but I think it would be a lot more interesting as a movie instead of a book. It's a historical fiction that tries to give you the feeling of a Jane Austen novel but fails. Many people in this book use some sort of magic to create scenes that people can see and feel they are actually part of. I just couldn't really get into that part of the book. The main storyline just fell short for me too. I don't remember any language or adult content in it...so in line with a PG movie.

Just Like Heaven

Have you ever read a book that sucked you in and then you ended up hating the ending? Yep, that's how this book was for me. It's another Historical fiction romance that started off so cute. The main characters are charming and the storyline was fun and lighthearted. Then nearly at the end those characters disappointed me. Adult content and a little language. In line with a PG-13 movie.
