A Study of Triangles

Happy Monday! I hope you had a lovely weekend. They always seem to go by too fast for me. You may of noticed I was pretty absent from the blog last week. Just feeling a bit worn down but I think I rested up enough that I'm back to my normal self.

Today I wanted to make some cards but I was drawing a bit of a creativity blank. I was wanting to do something a bit different than I usually do. As I was sitting at my desk trying to come up with some ideas, I happened to see a triangle punch that had been put there during cleaning but should of been put away. So I decided to use that punch as my starting point. Next I grabbed my 6x6 pad of patriotic papers, chose 3 designs and started punching away. I got about 15 triangles from each piece of paper. From that point I decided to make 3-5 cards using the triangles in different ways. I ended up getting 5 cards and loved this challenge I created for myself. Maybe I should do something like this more often.

Color Combinations

Sometimes I just find a design that I love so much that I replicate it in tons of color combinations. That's what happened with these cards. Such an easy design to stamp. I simply chose 2 color to stamp the flowers and then added leaves in and the sentiment. I made up about 20 of these card bases. Then I simply altered each one by using a different cardstock color base or some extra pattern paper. That way each card is still unique.

Oh, some of these may look like the flowers are very splotchy. But I used a Wink of Stella glitter brush pen on each and it doesn't always photograph clearly unless the light is hitting it just right.

Patriotic Shaker Card

Today's card started from taking inspiration from the Americana 6x6 paper pad from Pebbles. I picked mine up at Tuesday Morning. When I picked it up I wasn't sure I'd get a lot of use out of it, but I've actually used it quite a few times.

I thought the fireworks theme would be great to use in conjunction with a shaker card. And I have oodles of sequins that I knew I could use. I love how this ended up coming together.

God's Plan

Happy Wednesday! We are half way through the week :-)

Today I just have a recent scrapbook page to share with you. This one was a challenge and I pulled out lots and lots of letter stickers and thickers trying to find the right colors and letter combinations. I'm glad it worked out because I didn't measure any of them!

Floral Vellum Card

I LOVE florals. And a good floral set stamp will always start my heart fluttering and cause me to hit the buy button. But, I do prefer a set where you can build your own florals. So when I saw this new stamp set from Simon Says Stamp I was a bit unsure. Thanks to a birthday gift card though I decided to order it...and I am so glad I did. What really made me purchase it was seeing it gold embossed on an envelope. That's a technique I want to try soon.

So far I've only used the mass floral out of the set. I decided to stamp it with Versamark on a printed vellum sheet then emboss it using white powder. Honestly it was just one of those moments where I wasn't sure it would all work but thought it would be fun to try. I had no idea if the vellum would hold up to the heat embossing or how it would look since the vellum had a yellow bokeh print. But it all worked. Then I decided to flip it over and tried adding some coloring to it using copic markers. Once again I was surprised to see the color come through enough to make it pop even more. I simply adhered it to a piece of white cardstock using some glue on strategic places behind the flowers and sequins. Without the white cardstock it was still pretty but it looks amazing with it. I'm so glad I decided to play around and ended up with this card.
